Chop
In 2018, when I committed fully to painting, I created a new mark to define that shift — a symbol that felt older than the moment it was born. Built from five elemental forms, the chop carries the clarity of something that could have been carved in stone: simple, solid, and rooted in the fundamentals of mark‑making. Though contemporary in its creation, its visual language feels archaic, echoing the timelessness of symbols that endure across eras. It has since become my studio’s seal of authenticity — a distilled, enduring sign that links each finished work to a lineage of artists who used their own marks to assert intention, authorship, and permanence.
